The latest addition to Sea Point’s burgeoning Regent Road is an izakaya (informal Japanese gastropub) that’s fast becoming an after-work favourite. From Monday to Saturday evenings, it’s bursting at the seams with Atlantic Seaboard locals, popping in for a bowl of ramen after a promenade stroll, as well as work colleagues coming to let off steam after a hard day at the office.
An illustration of Kid Goku from Dragon Ball Z hangs above the open kitchen, setting the mood in the long, narrow eatery. Grab a seat at the pavement-facing counters while you enjoy a steaming bowl of noodles served in delightful rustic ceramic bowls.
The menu is small but offers variety: ramen (noodles) with chicken, beef or vegetables; kushiyaki (from the grill), which changes daily; poke (sliced raw-fish salad) and sushi. Love ramen? We recommend the beef! The poke is a welcome change of pace for sushi lovers.
Opening times Monday – Saturday, 6pm – 11pm (no bookings; walk-ins only)
