Latitude Café is the epitome of an all-day destination that suits the ever-changing needs of its cosmopolitan clientele to a rooftop tee! Situated at the top of the Latitude Aparthotel, the 9th-floor space sits adjacent to the Penthouse and features an outdoor terrace and pool that guests are welcome to use.

Abuzz with activity from early, the café is proving to be a hub for people wanting a work-from-home space, breakfast or lunch with a view, and friends and colleagues looking to live a little and enjoy the spoils of life in the pretty city.

The café is the pivotal element of a dynamic concept that plays host to some private meeting rooms, a smart (and beautifully dressed) central lounge and, of course, the rooftop terrace. The central kitchen sets the tone for a laidback experience – while polished front-of-house service (led by seasoned hospitality pro Ray Endean) ensures guests’ needs are met efficiently and discreetly. Seating is inside at café tables or on low-slung upholstered seating – the perfect perch for lazing away an afternoon with cocktails, good conversation and a magnificent view.

Café menu

The considered menu (scannable via their free wifi) focuses on classics, often with a South African twist. The eggs Benedict (served as they should be, on a muffin) are impeccable while the tomato-bredie shakshuka, chia seed health bowl and smashed avo on toast are wholesome and satisfying all-day breakfast choices. And there’s Deluxe coffee, too!

Lunchtime focuses on easy going eating with an edge – think gourmet sandwiches and flavourful toasties for when you’re working at your hot desk, salads crammed with an array of fresh produce and tasty toppings and more substantial offerings like their much-loved Wagyu Burger, hake with three-times-fried chips, open chicken roti and even a boerie roll.

Winning weekends

Latitude Café Sea Point View

Friday afternoons are all about easing into the weekend, which is where the Braai Board comes in. Guests can tuck into their meat, hot off the coals, while catching up over a beer or a cocktail. Saturday mornings see the Promenade walkers arriving for their post-exercise breakfast, but come afternoon, the cocktail set descends for sundowners and snacks. And, then there’s the Bottomless Bubbly Brunch on a Sunday that sells out fast (so booking in advance is recommended).

Moveable Feast

Whether you’re here for a breakfast meeting, sunset cocktails or a private party, Latitude Café will ensure your social, dining, business and networking needs are met. Add in an enviable Atlantic Seaboard view from its ninth-floor perch, and you may not want to leave.
