The Stellenbosch dining scene has hotted up another notch… Chef Phil Carmichael (who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, alongside icons such as Michel Roux Jnr, Gordon Ramsay, and Jason Atherton and gained his own star at Maze Prague) has opened his own restaurant in the heart of the historic town. Cape Town foodies might have already experienced his cuisine at the Spier Manor House dinner series last year.

Mill Street Bistro combines French techniques and the best of local produce in a bistronomy-style offering that is sophisticated but unfussy. Chef Phil is passionate about supporting provenance and sustainability, regenerative farming and local heritage. The open-plan restaurant extends into an informal wine bar area and onto an open deck with a view over the Mill Stream Monument.

A welcoming and friendly space where great ingredients, well executed, take centrestage.
