Tucked away in the old garage on the corner of Hof and Kloof Streets in Gardens, and hidden behind lush granadilla creepers and a bounty of hanging plants, is a typical laid-back Cape Town café, owned and run by Natasha Napoli.
Nourish’d is the kind of place where everyone is welcome – whether you’re strolling in barefoot from the beach, or popping in for a bite between meetings. Furry friends are welcome too, and nobody seems to be in a rush.
The simple menu speaks to Natasha’s mantra that health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. On offer is a selection of tasty juices, shots, smoothies, breakfasts and gourmet sandwiches – all packed with fresh, homegrown ingredients to boost your wellbeing – and boasting clever names such as Happy Hippy, Glow and Flow, Feelin’ Da Beat of My Heart, Makin’ Me Cacao and Green Warrior.
The Moon, Sun and Star gourmet sandwiches are offered on gluten-free, sourdough or 100% rye bread, each of them equally delicious and available for sit-down or takeaway.
You need to place your order at the counter (it isn’t clearly communicated anywhere), otherwise you’ll be sitting for a while, waiting for service. Once you’ve placed your order, grab a stool at the bar overlooking the street, or find a seat inside, then kick back and chill.
In need of a pre- or post-festive-season cleanse? Ask about Nourish’d’s take-home juice cleanses. There are three options – one day, three day or five day – that can be collected in store, or delivered to your door.
