This three-storey Italian Emporium on Bree Street is the go-to haunt for those seeking superb Italian fare and classy cocktails. Locanda (on the ground floor) serves relaxed bistro fare, Seta (one floor up) serves at small plates and head-spinning cocktails, while Pierino Penati (on the top floor) does fine-dining with aplomb!
When the sun goes down (or even before that), head to Seta, a sophisticated fusion-cocktail lounge on the first floor. Here, the Italian sensibilities of aperitivo entertaining are the order of the day: whetting your appetite with (and making an occasion of) pre-dinner drinks. While “cutting-edge cocktails” are the main event, at Seta (which means silk in Italian), you’ll also be able to enjoy a selection of exquisite small plates with your drinks. Crafted by effervescent resident chef Michelangelo D’Oria, the designed-to-share dishes blend authentic Italian flavours with a hint of the Orient.
If you’d prefer something more hearty, pop downstairs to Locanda for an Italian feast, and then reprise your table back at Seta for an after-dinner cognac or espresso. The kitchen closes at 10pm, but linger longer for cocktails and cool beats…
WRITTEN IN THE STARS
The top floor of the two-storey building has been converted into a fine-dining Italian eatery called Pierino Penati. Headed by third-generation Michelin-starred chef, Theo Penati, the restaurant’s focus is on serving healthy and sustainable meals that are authentic and full of flavour. Interestingly, the first Pierino Penati was opened in Brianza in Italy 70 years ago by Theo’s grandfather, and is still in operation today, and run by the Penati family…
All that’s left to say is: Saluti!
Good to know Seta is part of the ever-popular monthly First Thursdays, and has a list of cool DJs and artists lined up for the upcoming months.
