Kloof Street is a favourite among locals (and tourists) for after-work drinks, dinner and cool live music. One of the street’s popular haunts is Asoka, which has established itself as the place to go for chilled alfresco dining, tasty cocktails and great jazz. Its famous olive tree – in the centre of the restaurant – has been attracting diners for over a decade ago, when the restaurant and bar first opened.
Satisfy your Monday hunger pangs
The first day of the week is Hungry Mondays at Asoka, where the famed Kloof Street bar and eatery opens its doors wide, and welcomes the peckish. Tuck into a delicious three-course dinner (excluding drinks and gratuity) for just R195!
On the menu, you’ll be able to choose whatever you please from an exciting array of sharing-style small plates – which, though they change weekly, are consistently satisfying, flavourful and utterly delicious. Think: Asiago cheese croquettes, baby spinach salad, goat’s cheese-and-peppadew poppers, five-spiced tuna “spoons”(Course 1); beef sliders, calamari and chorizo, mushroom tacos or West Coast mussels (Course 2); followed by hake goujons, lamb rump or butter chicken, or a Mezze platter (Course 3). The idea is to pick one dish from each course, so you get a variety of taste and texture profiles. And, for a small additional cost, end your evening on a sweet note with any two “off the menu” winter desserts.
Looks like Mondays need not be blue anymore…
