An elegant bistro Sunday lunch in the Constantia Valley.
The airy glass-walled restaurant at Norval Foundation overlooks striking sculpture gardens, rolling mountains and a beautiful outdoor deck. Grub & Vine Norval is a sophisticated new sibling to Matt Manning’s Grub & Vine on Bree Street, known for refined bistro fare partnered with a superb wine offering. On winter Sundays there’s a delicious 3-course (plus canapés) Sunday lunch special to indulge in, with three options per course. After canapés of brandade with tartare sauce, and smoked hamhock on toasted brioche with onion jam, tuck into a choice of flavour-packed starters. There’s wild mushroom tart with asparagus; chicken liver parfait and toasted brioche; and roasted cauliflower soup with truffle oil to choose between. Another dilemma for mains: braised beef shortrib; chicken ballotine with mushroom duxelle; or pan-roast pork neck with charred leek, bacon and mustard jus. And finish off with sticky toffee pudding; vanilla sponge with lemon posset and banana custard; or a South African cheese board.
The special R495 per person (3 courses and canapés)
