About the restaurant Ornate, plush, decidedly glam, this hot after-work drinks spot – once a grungy live-music dive (The Assembly) – is brought to you by the team behind Aces ’n’ Spades, The Village Idiot, and SurfaRosa. Draped velvet curtains line the interior walls and velvet-covered booths. Scattered in between the windows and throughout the venue are framed botanical sketches, old black-and-white pictures of Cape Town, and Baroque-style paintings. The cocktails, as one would expect from a cocktail lounge, are excellent, and some of the best we’ve had in the city recently. Now this popular watering hole is running a wonderful tapas special.
