The special R595 for a multi-course kaiseki menu
About the restaurant Tjing Tjing on Longmarket Street is a four-in-one Japanese emporium, offering a variety of immersive dining experiences. The first floor is home to the beautifully understated Momiji restaurant, whose multi-course kaiseki menu is going for a discounted rate until 31 October 2019.
So what exactly is kaiseki? The Japanese equivalent of haute cuisine (French for high cooking). It refers to the style of meticulous preparation and presentation of dishes, usually reserved for high-level establishments.
Tjing Tjing Momiji’s spring menu offers a delightful South African twist to a traditional kaiseki menu, while still staying true tradition with a number of seasonally driven courses. The menu will change regularly, but examples of what you can expect include hay-seared yellowtail, chilled avocado soup, octopus and squid ink okayu, and rooibos-and-naartjie mochi ice cream for dessert.
