The thought of having to sit in a drab conference room for hours on end is enough to make anyone shudder. That was, at least, until we discovered The Stack’s contempo-cool meeting rooms.
The chic brasserie and bar housed in the historic Leinster Hall in Gardens is a firm favourite among those seeking an escape that’s cosy, luxe, glam and hip all in the same breath. That’s, of course, aside from the superb cocktails and French bistro fare also on offer.
What many might not know is that The Stack also rents out cool meeting rooms and a co-working space on the first floor of Leinster Hall – whose modern members’-club feel will turn even the dullest of topics into inspiring discussions. Because, let’s face it, when you have a meeting seated on fuschia-velvet chairs, with leopard-print carpets underfoot, it can’t not be a riot!
Nice to meet you
The shaking, stirring and chattering in the bar and restaurant below slowly fade away as you head up the winding leopard-print stairs to the quiet first floor. All you’ll hear are the sounds of fingers tapping away on keyboards from those lounging next to the crackling fireplaces, and the clinking of cocktail glasses heading into the three meeting rooms – which are aptly named Cuddle, Huddle and Screening (according to the size of your party).
All three rooms are immaculately prepared – each with their own distinct personality – but all have hanging chandeliers, brightly coloured velvet chairs and, of course, The Stack’s signature carpets. All you need to do is pick the one best suited to your group’s size and requirements.
The Cuddle Room is the smallest of all three, featuring an oval table that seats up to six guests, and has a wonderful view of the mountain.
Cost R2 000 (half day)
R3 500 (full day)
The Huddle Room is the middleman, with a boardroom-sized table that seats 10 – perfect for getting down to business.
Cost R4 000 (half day)
R7 000 (full day)
The Screening Room is the big guy, designed for large meetings or even a private event. Choose to have one long table, a number of smaller tables, or none at all. With two entrances, it’s a wonderful space to make your own!
Cost R6 000 (half day)
R10 000 (full day)
Each of the rooms comes with a large screen (and all adaptors), air conditioning, wi-fi, a phone on request, dimmable lighting, block-out curtains, fitted carpets and a sideboard station to rest your bags (or snacks!)
Olives, biltong and nuts are provided to curb hunger pangs, but you can also order a number of snacks off the provided menu, as well as any of the delectable cocktails to keep you fuelled up. Is there a better way get the creative juices flowing than by sipping on rosemary-and-lavender soaked gin with tonic and juniper berries? We think not!
