99 Loop Gallery is a Must-Visit on the Art Grid

Venue Hunter

This contemporary-art gallery on Church Street celebrates local artists.

Cape Town’s vibrant art scene is constantly evolving and expanding, with all sorts of nooks and crannies in the city centre just begging to be discovered. One such spot is 99 Loop Gallery, one of the stalwarts on the First Thursdays scene.

The 1800s façade of the 140-year-old building where it’s housed is contrasted by a warm and modern interior. The 100m² space is made up of several rooms, meaning two or three exhibitions are likely to be running at the same time. The sunlit ground floor is perfect for exciting playful installation artwork and there’s a comfortable reading area and a serene treed courtyard.

WHAT TO SEE

Some of the feted artists that will be featured in the next few months include the likes of Nina Torr, Allen Laing, Ilene Bothma, and Anastasia Pather. Subscribe to our newsletter for updates on future exhibition details.

Opening times Monday – Friday, 9am – 7pm; Saturday, 9am – 1pm
