Fun Cooking Classes with Chef Bertus Basson

Fun Cooking Classes with Chef Bertus Basson

Step into the kitchen with this culinary whiz for a fun-filled and engaging demo.

Bertus Basson’s Fun Food Demos are back with a bang! After the success of his first event in mid-May, he’s running two more in picturesque Paarl, no less: Fear of Rare Cuts (on Saturday, 8 July) and Cooking Methods (on Saturday, 19 August).

Meat is meat

If you find yourself steering clear of of lesser known cuts of meat in favour of fillet, rump and sirloin, this Saturday morning class on 8 July will help you conquer your trepidation of preparing interesting meat dishes. Under the guidance of Bertus Basson, one of SA’s best chefs, this demo takes place at his well-known restaurant at Spice Route.

During the demo, Bertus will demonstrate several examples of meat cuts and their different preparation methods. Afterwards, you’ll be able to enjoy the dishes, paired with a selection of Spice Route wines. Plus, you’ll also receive an exciting, take-home recipe pack.

Perfecting cooking techniques

As for the final event on 19 August, Bertus will demonstrate some tricky cooking methods – such as smoking, confit, braising, poaching and grilling – imparting some secret industry tips to help you master these skills.

These engaging food demos cost R350 per person, and booking is essential. Once you’ve booked via reservations@bertusbasson.com, prepayment is required to secure your booking.
