C20 Galerie in Woodstock

Soon after relocating to Cape Town from New York last year, expert collector and designer, Emma de Crespigny, opened C20 Galerie – an interiors destination where she sells a wide range of desirable interior objets, ranging from furniture to glassware.

The distinguishing feature of the aptly named C20 Galerie is the stock of truly unique and original mid-century pieces from France, Germany, North America and Italy. Emma developed her keen eye for rare and obscure pieces while completing a 10-year apprenticeship with a prominent 20th-century dealer in Manhattan.

World-renowned furniture designer Vladimir Kagan, who designs for the Jolie-Pitts, describes Emma’s showroom as “an impressive collection of vintage furniture”, stating that “anyone in the market for period modern furnishings and accessories can certainly find happiness in (this) store”.

Emma is also a gifted designer, with an ability to modify and reproduce valuable and rare pieces, making them affordable and accessible to the public. C20 Galerie also boasts an on-site collection of books and original catalogues, allowing collectors and design enthusiasts to look forward to a wide array of products, both antique and made-to-order, such as Art Deco wallpaper, custom upholstery, lighting and ceramics. All this makes C20 Galerie an invaluable addition to the design scene in Cape Town.
