There are very few places on Earth that boast the same topographical diversity (and magnificence) that the Cape does. A mountain, surrounded by ocean… with lush vineyards and riverlands giving way to the solitude of the Cederberg, and the deserts of the Karoo.
That said, It would be a travesty to live in (or visit) such place, without exploring its full majesty. And by “exploring”, we don’t mean by bus, car or plane. We’re talking about truly immersing yourself in the natural wonder of the Cape.
Which is where the alternative adventure tour company, Daytrippers, comes in. Their aim is to get you into the great outdoors good and proper. Their comprehensive tours involve day tours and multi-day expeditions that avoid many of the trappings of mainstream, run-of-the-mill tourist packages.
Hiking and Biking
If mountain-biking is indeed the new golf, hold my drink Tiger Woods (or is it Dustin Johnson?). Daytrippers’ fleet includes over 200 bicycles, and their tours cater to beginners and experienced cyclists, with options ranging from a laidback 30-minute cycle in the winelands to a rigorous two-week ride from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town!
Though they consider biking to be their speciality, there’s also a number of hiking tours, and even some packages that combine both (for those who really want to test their limits).
Some of the hiking tours are linear, with participants travelling in one direction, while their luggage and food are transferred en route. Others will have the group staying in a central location or “base camp”, from which they will explore the surrounding terrain.
Daytrippers’ adventure packages include expert guidance, and healthy, homemade picnics prepared by their catering team.
Some of the tours on offer include:

As well as pre-planned packages, Daytrippers offers you the chance to customise your own adventure experience. Whether you prefer bicycling, mountain-biking, hiking or a combination of all of them, their bespoke tours can be custom-made to fit your requirements. It’s this flexibility that truly sets Daytrippers apart.
