This ancient, uniquely South African vegetation, celebrated for its remarkable healing properties, constitutes 80% of the smallest – yet most diverse – of six globally recognised botanical kingdoms. Many of us have encountered it as tea – an acquired taste that first-timers either love or hate – but we’ve rarely had an opportunity to experience it in all its exciting guises: be it in cordials, oils, vinegar tinctures, salts and digestives.
Which is where this wonderful experience comes in. You’ll be guided through a tasting of eight fynbos botanicals, starting in their most essential form as a herbal-tea infusion, then sweet cordials, progressing to aromatic vinaigrettes along with edible naturals and seasoning salts, culminating in soothing digestives accompanied by sweet treats.
Tastings cost R1 200 per person (a 10% discount applies to groups of 10 or more guests; maximum capacity is 16 guests), and take place most Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2pm until 3.30pm in the Company’s Garden Visitors Centre.
Please note Children aged 14 and older are welcome to enjoy the tasting experience.
