An Artisanal Gin-making Course in Cape Town

An Artisanal Gin-making Course in Cape Town New Harbour Distillery

You don’t need to be a scientist to distill (y)our favourite spirit.

Move over craft beer. Artisanal gin is the new kid on the block. Learn how to make your own in this short course presented by the juniper-berry lovers at New Harbour Distillery in Woodstock, a company of creative scientific individuals who manufacture high-quality artisanal spirits.

In the three-hour cram session lead by master distiller Nic Janeke, you’ll broaden your knowledge of the history and different types of gin, from Old Tom to London Dry. You’ll also get clued up on all the different manufacturing techniques and how various botanicals affect the flavour.

And the most exciting part is that you’ll also get to make your own version of the quintessential British tipple – from scratch – using single-botanical distillation blends. Certificates will be given to those who complete the course.

The course includes:

  • course material
  • tastings
  • a booklet with recipes
  • a bottle of gin, made by you

Booking is essential and classes are limited to ten participants. Larger groups can be accommodated on request.
