Have you ever dreamed of being a chef? Would you like to experience the pressure and excitement of working in a top-quality establishment? Then, Greenhouse’s Chef for a Day is for you!

The timeless and tranquil Greenhouse Restaurant at the five-star Cellars-Hohenhort Hotel in Constantia invites you to join renowned chefs, Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss, as they take you on a tour of their kitchen, imparting some of their super skills and invaluable tips during the course of the day.

Learn from the best 

The programme, which takes place on select Fridays and Saturdays from August until December 2017, is ideal for friends or couples who wish to enjoy quality cooking time together, and also for aspirant young chefs, who would like to experience life in a professional kitchen before committing to culinary studies.

The programme

After your stint in the kitchen – where you will observe and help to whip up multiple award-winning dishes – you will be able to enjoy an enviable dining experience in this world-renowned restaurant.

The full-day programme includes a 12-course dinner! While the half-day option features a four-course lunch – both of which are paired with excellent wines.

Half-day programme 

  • 9am – 11.30am (kitchen preparation and basic skills)
  • 11.30am – 12pm (foraging basics and herb identification)
  • 12pm – 12.30pm (plating canapés and starters)
  • 12.30pm onwards (4-course lunch menu, with wine pairing)
  • 2.30pm (ends)

Full day programme 

10am – 12pm (kitchen preparation and basic skills)
12.30pm – 2.30pm (hands-on lunch service)
2.30pm – 3.30pm (break for light meal)
3.30pm – 4pm (foraging basics and herb identification)
4pm – 5pm (wine-pairing basics and tasting with sommelier)
5pm – 6pm (setting up for dinner)
6pm – 7pm (refresh and change for dinner; hotel “day room” provided subject to availability)
7pm onwards (12-course Greenhouse experience menu with wine pairing)
10pm (ends)
