Weekly Evening Runs Through the Constantia Vineyards
Turn Wednesday evenings into fundays, with a trail run through Groot and Klein Constantia wine estates.
By Inside Guide • 18 March 2018
There’s hardly a better time to sign up for these night runs at Groot Constantia, one of the oldest (and most beautiful) wine farms in the valley.
What to expect
These weekly Wednesday evening runs take place in the historic vineyards of Groot and Klein Constantia, before participants get to enjoy a festive post-race get-together at Jonkershuis restaurant, where the races start and finish.
There are two routes: a 5.5km or an 8km trail. To keep things fun and exciting, the routes change each week. Because the races kick off just before night falls (6.40pm for the earlier 8km race), bring a headlamp (or purchase one at the start) to avoid any stumbles.
Everybody is welcome! Tickets cost between R165 and R190 for adults (R100 and R120 for 18 years and younger), depending on which distance is selected, and can be booked online. Each race is limited to 300 participants.
After the run, over-18s will receive a complimentary bottle of Groot Constantia’s Finisher’s Wine (valued at over R120 per bottle).
So, if you want to actively experience the Mother City’s vineyards at night, head along to the Constantia Winelands for a nighttime adventure.
