Summer Sundays mean lazy lie-ins, and making the most of the dwindling weekend hours. Which is exactly what Sunday Brunch at The Ritz Hotel promises…
(Pssst: In case you missed it The Ritz swung open its doors on 15 December 2017, and has since become a hot favourite among Capetonians – and out-of-towners, of course – for rooftop sundowners, poolside lunches, and top-of-the-world gourmet dinners.)
But, back to brunch…
Brunch at The Ritz takes places every Sunday, from 11am to 5pm, at Casa, the hotel’s first-floor poolside restaurant. The vibe is chilled and splashtastic, with a decidedly South Beach flavour! Think palm-fringed wallpaper, decadent gold accents and a marble-top table overflowing with pool-sized platters of deliciousness. Naturally, cocktails, champagne and rosé are aflowing (that’s what differentiates breakfast from brunch, people!) Quite frankly, it’s the only place to be when it’s scorching outside – a veritable oasis, with killer views, a never-ending supply of refreshments, and a bountiful feast fit for royalty.
A brunch to beat
Come hungry, because the spread is extensive, catering to breakfast lovers, the lunch set, those with a sweet tooth, and even picky sorts. We’re talking fresh platters of sushi, sliders, stone-fired pizzas, flapjacks, pastries, an assortment of seasonal fruit, as well as a selection of classic dishes from the à la carte menu.
Fit for a family
Priced at R250 per person (R95 for children between 5 and 12 years), it’s an ideal destination for a family day out. Diners are granted full access to the hotel pool and sun-splashed deck for post-brunch chilling, and there’s even a shaded play area for kids. As food and beverage manager for The Ritz, Omayya Ismail explains: “We really want to make it accessible for families to join us… we think it’s the perfect way for parents and their kids to relax on a Sunday”.
You might want to splash out (pun intended) on the excellent Veuve Clicquot special that Casa is currently running: R750 per bottle of the Yellow Label every Sunday. We’ll drink to that! Cheers!
