Sunday Lunch in Cape Town: A Three-Course Roast at The Stack

Sunday Lunch in Cape Town: A Three-Course Roast at The Stack

A carvery with a difference…

Sundays were invented for lazy lunches, spent enjoying good food and wine in the company of family and friends. But, let’s face it, slaving away in the kitchen is hardly an appealing prospect, particularly when the chic bar-brasserie down the drag could do it for you (so much better).

The Stack Restaurant

Housed in the historic Leinster Hall in Gardens, The Stack is a firm favourite among those seeking an out-of-the-ordinary experience: a stylish jaunt that’s luxe, cosy, glam and hip all at once. And although the Insta-worthy decor is the initial drawcard, it’s the superb cocktails and French bistro fare that’ll keep you coming back for more! That, and their newly introduced weekend feast…

The brasserie might be French-inspired, but this restaurant knows how to do a traditional Sunday Roast fit for even the fussiest of Brits. Think Yorkshire pud, roast beef, vegetables, and sticky toffee pudding – all prepared and presented with Stack-style finesse.

A ravishing roast

Pull up a plush velvet seat under the glam chandeliers, and tuck into either a one-, two-, or three-course feast that will have you grazing all afternoon long.

The Stack Menu

Starters potato-and-leek soup or The Stack salad
Main courses Classic roast beef (with a Yorkshire pudding, gravy, garden vegetables and fondant potatoes), or delightfully different Chicken Wellington (wrapped in swiss chard, mushrooms and pastry with a red wine jus), or pan-fried kingklip (with peas, green beans and crispy leeks). You can also choose a selection of extra sides such as broccoli, pommes frites, wilted greens, or the baby gem salad.
Dessert Sticky toffee pudding.
Kids menu Classic fish and chips or cheese burger and chips.
Vegetarian options are available.

There’s hardly a better way to ward off the Sunday blues than with a satisfying roast in an equally fabulous setting.

Good to know The Sunday menu can be ordered on an à la carte basis – all items have individual prices – or you can opt for two or three courses (R190 and R230 respectively).
