Voted number four on the Top 25 Hotels in Africa in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards, this five-star boutique hotel and spa at the foot of the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range is a seaside sanctuary like no other. Though it boasts a host of wonderful activities and facilities, its dreamy location – between mountain and sea – is, perhaps, what makes it stand out from the rest.
LOCATION, Location, Location
A beautifully manicured garden surrounded by heady indigenous plant life is the perfect outlook for afternoon tea in the Conservatory. Or, if you’d prefer, you might like to take your tea in the Leopard Bar or its balcony that overlooks the dazzling Atlantic Ocean, with unhindered views of the horizon and Lion’s Head. (Get your favourite Instagram filter ready because it’s about to work overtime!)
The bakers among us will appreciate pastries made with real butter and Valrhona chocolate. Freshly prepared on the morning by pastry chef Gina Marziani, the tea stand flaunts a smorgasbord of baked treats, from cupcakes and macarons to brownies, frangipane, panna cotta, shortbread, cream puffs and scones with cream. An assortment of traditional and innovative finger sandwiches is available for savoury seekers, too, as well as a fine selection of fragrant teas, coffee and hot chocolate.
From the moment you walk through the front entrance, you feel right at home. Prepared to go the extra mile, the staff is friendly and attentive. And if, like us, you’d prefer a glass of bubbly with your tea, you’re more than welcome to order some by the glass – or bottle, of course.
Be kind to every kind
From 15 January 2018, the hotel is introducing Vegan High Tea, where a whole host of traditional and exciting sweet and savoury vegan treats will be on offer in the same breathtaking setting. So, bring your vegan friends and share the teatime love.
