History, luxury, serenity and warm service at this 300-year-old estate.
Approached via a stately oak-lined driveway, Lanzerac is breathtaking from the very start of your visit. The three-century-old estate (where the first pinotage was bottled) in picturesque Stellenbosch combines historic Cape architecture, scenic splendour and a variety of experiences and spaces to warm the hearts of visitors in search of all things delicious.
Lush gardens and rolling vineyards surround it, with the Jonkershoek mountains forming a dramatic backdrop and evoking a sense of privacy and tranquillity. And yet, its close proximity to Stellenbosch central means guests have the best of both worlds.

Dining at Lanzerac
Lanzerac is home to the Manor Kitchen, one of three restaurants on the estate and certainly the most dazzling, with its eye-catching chandeliers, leaded windows and lofty proportions. From the bountiful breakfast buffet to fine-dining dinners, plus afternoon tea on Saturday and Sunday lunch, your every culinary desire is answered.
The more casual Lanzerac Deli does all-day breakfasts, pastries, sandwiches and local cheese and charcuterie platters. Alongside is the Tasting Room where the estate’s acclaimed wines can be sampled (including a pairing with artisanal chocolates). For a more convivial atmosphere, there’s the Taphuis: a bar decorated in vintage style, serving gourmet pub grub beside a roaring fireplace in winter or outdoors on the terrace in summer.
The full experience
At the plush Craven Lounge, you can enjoy the finest spirits, cocktails, craft beers and a curated wine list with gourmet tapas. There’s also a whisky tasting (with optional canapé pairing) and a Gentleman’s Tea on Saturdays.
The Spa at Lanzerac offers some of the best vistas (and facilities) in the business, coupled with exquisite design. In addition to pampering treatments, spa and hotel guests are free to make use of the heated pool, bubbling jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
The estate sits in the foothills of the Jonkershoek Valley, granting easy access to the adjoining Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Guests can immerse themselves in the beauty of the region with walks and bike rides in the reserve, or explore the history, architecture, art and foodie scene of Stellenbosch (the hotel offers transfers into town at set times).
With all this and more, it’s no wonder Lanzerac is considered a dream destination for locals and out-of-towners alike.
