Cloud-level living in a magical corner of the Winelands.
Like the proverbial “king of the castle”, guests staying in The Villa at Jordan have sweeping views over the surrounding Stellenbosch countryside. Built on the hilltop saddle of land dividing the wine estate into east-facing and west-facing sections, the panorama extends from vineyards, dams and forest to the greater valley and distant mountains; from incredible sunrise to dramatic sunset.
Picture perfect
The double-level, clapboard-clad, plantation-style house, built beside the famed Nine Yards vineyard, has plenty of spots from which to marvel at the scenery – from a barstool at the verandah bar or the edge of the rimflow pool; from the outdoor shower to your bed upstairs.
The interiors are dressed in an elegant, contemporary farmhouse style. A colour palette of calming natural shades and neutrals, with plenty of wood, rattan and wicker, terracotta and leather, combine to create a feeling of understated luxury.
It’s a house suited to multi-generational groups, with three bedrooms upstairs and two on ground level opening out onto the verandah and pool deck. One room can also accommodate two young children. The open-plan design flows from the gorgeous kitchen past a large, circular dining table to two lounges and out onto a spacious verandah and pool deck, offering plenty of spaces to gather and unwind.
Realm of the senses
The Villa is an exclusive, private space to escape to, but the farm’s attractions are sure to draw you out to explore. There’s the wine, of course, and the dining – Jordan is home to The Cellar Door and The Jordan Restaurant with Marthinus Ferreira. Whether you’re after a casual alfresco meal or a fine-dining affair, it’s on your doorstep.
The estate is crisscrossed by mountain-biking trails (which link with the greater Bottelary Hills Conservancy network), and guests can enjoy drives in an open-top Land Rover, which offers the chance to soak in the fynbos aromas, spot the animal inhabitants of this nature-friendly farm, and enjoy incredible sundowners overlooking both Table Bay and False Bay.
Jordan is just 10 kilometres from the centre of Stellenbosch and all its attractions, plus Franschhoek and Paarl are close by. For the ultimate Winelands getaway, The Villa at Jordan ticks all the boxes.
