Keurbooms Beach is the quieter and relatively undeveloped side of Plettenberg Bay, offering a seaside stay with the best of both worlds – close enough to town, but also a serene escape on a stunning stretch of green and gold coastline. Ocean Mist, within a private housing estate, has a lush lawn leading straight down to Keurbooms Beach.
Seaside vibes
The four-bedroom beach house is beautifully but minimally decorated, in calming hues inspired by the surroundings and lots of natural light. Shuttered doors and windows, weathered wood, wicker furnishings, striped cushions and lots of hooks on which to hang those often-used swimming towels provide a casual-chic backdrop for together time.
All rooms, including the bedrooms, open onto the outdoors – out front is mesmerising blue ocean, out back is dune forest greenery. The house is especially well set up for alfresco meals, long, lazy days braaiing beside the pool, and relaxed sundowners. With direct access to the beach (chairs and an umbrella are at hand), you’re spoilt for choice.
Beach life
The ever-changing backdrop offers rosy dawns, occasional mist rolling in from the sea, the constant crash of the waves (and the sound of whales blowing at night in season). If your idea of the perfect holiday is endless shoreline strolls – discover gorgeous Arch/Cathedral Rock – mindful beachcombing and ocean swims, this is the spot.
