Every Tuesday night, this Kloof Street institution comes alive with live-jazz sessions.
Sultry jazz tunes are the order of the day at this buzzy Cape Town venue every Tuesday, when Mr Keys & The Funky Munks take to the stage for a two-hour live Jazz set. The fact that The Keys (as they’re affectionately known) recently celebrated their 10-year residency at Asoka is testament to their calibre and Asoka’s warm and welcoming vibe.
We recommend that you arrive early – and order a few plates off the utterly delicious Sharing Menu (the Tuna Tacos and Baby Spinach Salad are are favourites, but everything is really good). Then work your way through the cocktail menu, while the band jams under the fairy-lit olive tree. And, if you don’t mind the kopseer the next day, stay and boogie – the resident DJs get behind the decks at 10pm, and spin the finest deep house beats until the wee hours.
