Christmas at The Cellars-Hohenort: Festive Family Feasts

After a year like 2020, there’s never been a better time to trade in the spatula for a glass of bubbly! As this year draws to a close, and festive-season plans are on everybody’s lips, it’s important to remember that holidays are a time for relaxing.
Which is where The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel comes in… Set in the picturesque Constantia Winelands, surrounded by gardens and vineyards, with Table Mountain looming in the distance, this beautiful escape is a veritable oasis, far removed from the noise of the city.
And this season, diners are invited to celebrate the season at The Conservatory restaurant of this elegant property, with an extravagant four-course Christmas Eve dinner on 24 December, and Christmas Day lunch on 25 December.
’Tis the season to celebrate
If you’re looking for an all-inclusive experience, you won’t be disappointed. For R950 per person guests can expect welcome drinks, a festive Christmas crackers on the table, canapés, and a wonderful homely setting (minus the cooking and washing up).
Guests are welcomed with a Christmas cocktail and selection of artisanal breads and butters, with a Christmas-turkey consommé to whet the appetite.
For starters guests have a choice between a variation of barbary duck; or a variation of Franschhoek salmon trout, followed by a cranberry and pomegranate granite champagne espuma.
Mains of truffle-chicken roulade; slow-roasted lamb shoulder and lamb noisette will be presented as family-style dishes, spread across the table and accompanied by a slew of heavenly, traditional Christmas sides.
Desserts are deliciously festive, with a choice of Ceres cherry and dark chocolate gateau; and lemon poppy and orange shortbread followed by a selection of tea and coffee with Christmas petit fours.
