The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa: A Celebratory NYE Dinner

When it comes to seeing in the New Year, The Cellars-Hohenort does it with aplomb. Steeped in history and surrounded by stunning gardens and majestic trees, this iconic Constantia Valley hotel has clocked the passing of many years – in fact, more than three centuries. Its newly refurbished Conservatory Restaurant brings a simply elegant and beautifully creative woodland aesthetic to the evening. And the special occasion is reflected in the delicious six-course menu that takes you to midnight.

A New Year’s Eve Feast

From your welcoming cocktail and canapés to coffee and petit fours, you will be truly spoilt with the six-course offering. Expect a smorgasbord of tastes and textures, along with the freshest vegetables, herbs and fruit straight from the hotel’s gardens.

To begin with, canapés of venison mousse, Thai curry fishcake and creamed-corn macaron lead on to heirloom tomato tartare with strawberry consommé; and then a creative smoked-hake cheesecake. After a palate cleanser, there’s a choice of mains: grilled springbok loin or pistachio-crusted chicken breast with artichoke velouté and pancetta. A pre-dessert of a vanilla-bean mousse is followed by a mango, almond and coconut gateau… and there are still petits fours to come with tea or coffee.

Toast the New Year with Bubbly

When the clock strikes midnight, splash out on a bottle of cap classique or champagne – the winelist features Klein Constantia Brut, Villiera Tradition Brut, L’Ormarins Rosé, Silverthorne The Green Man, Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Mumm and Taittinger.
