Grub & Vine Meet the Makers Dinner Events
Wine, dine and meet the passionate winemakers.
By Inside Guide • July 07, 2025
Easily one of the most-loved foodie destinations in Cape Town, Grub & Vine epitomises sophisticated yet unpretentious dining. Owned and run by chef Matt Manning, who opened the restaurant in 2018 to align his passions for honest food and great wine, the bistro continues to push the boundaries in both spheres. As does his Culture Wine Bar next door, where the extensive wine list featuring outstanding local and international wines regularly wins accolades from the Star Wine List of the Year awards.
Meet The Makers

The runaway success of the Meet the Makers dinner series in previous years has made it a fixture on the winter and spring calendars at Grub & Vine (at both Bree Street and Norval branches). Each takes the form of dinner paired with wines from the featured winery, flowing with stories and informal chats with Matt and the winemaker through the evening, plus copious cheer, much laughter, and as always, good honest food beautifully paired with the wines showcased.
Mellish Family Wines

A boutique wine producer making terroir-driven wines from vineyards on the family farm Welbeloond (new members of the Durbanville Wine Valley), winemaker Andrew Mellish is making a name for his beautifully crafted small-batch wines. Tastings at the farm are by appointment only, so this is a rare chance to meet him in person, experience his wines and hear his stories.
