“Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life's most civilised pleasures.”
Easily one of the most loved foodie destinations in Cape Town, Grub & Vine epitomises sophisticated yet unpretentious dining. Owned and run by chef Matt Manning, who opened this, his first restaurant, in 2018 to align his passions for honest food and great wine, the bistro continues to push the boundaries in both those spheres.
Meet The Makers
The Meet the Makers series is aimed at oenophiles as well as those interested in learning more about the South African wine-making scene. In addition to a delicious five-course dinner, accompanied by some of the best wines in the land, the winemakers themselves will be in attendance, imparting personal anecdotes and wine-making tips to dinner guests.
As August is Women’s Month, winemaker Megan van der Merwe of Beau Constantia kicks off the series on 11 August. Owned by the Du Preez family, this boutique estate in the Constantia Valley is known for producing concentrated, yet balanced wines from small quantities of phenomenal grapes. The following wines will be served with dinner:
- Pierre 2020 (sauvignon and sémillon)
- Cecily 2020 (viognier)
- Lucca 2017 (merlot and cabernet-franc)
- Aidan 2016 (shiraz, petit-verdot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec and merlot)
- Creative Batch 2020 (skin-fermented chenin, roussanne, verdelho, clairette blanche, viognier and chardonnay)
After an evening of wining and dining, you’ll be able to order the featured wines at cellar-door prices for enjoyment at home.
