Hasher Family Wines: A Celebratory Long-Table Harvest Feast

Head to the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley for the harvest edition of a warm and welcoming series of family-friendly feasts among the vines. A recent addition to the winescape of this beautiful valley above Hermanus, Hasher Family Estate is a treasure trove of cool-climate, minimal-intervention wines, vineyard vistas and the heady scent of fynbos, as you’ll discover at this relaxed and convivial gathering.

Geared towards families, the event is designed as a joyful celebration of autumn on the farm. The presses have fallen quiet. The cellar hums with the soft alchemy of fermentation. Another harvest has written itself into the barrels and the vines can rest. Children head off on an Easter foraging expedition through the vineyards, while the adults explore a special cellar tasting. There’s a collaborative art workshop (newly added to the ritual this autumn) and then everyone sits down together for a family feast, focussing on seasonal delicacies and fine flavours that perfectly complement the wines.

An immersive tasting

During the afternoon, winemaker Natasha Williams guides you through a tasting of the first fermentations straight from the barrel. You’ll discover the various expressions of Hasher Family Wines’ small-batch cool-climate wines in their most honest form: young, lively, unfinished and full of promise.

Fynbos foraging

While the adults explore the harvest in the glass, the children set off with a trusted guide into the autumn vineyards and fynbos for a true Easter foraging expedition. Senses wide open they’ll explore the season through blooms, earth, the hum of insects in the air. They’re encouraged to gather what speaks to them… leaves, seeds, petals, textures, and then craft small, fragrant keepsakes to carry the day home in their pockets.

An art workshop

New for this harvest celebration is a collaborative art workshop led by Belgian artist Nicky Myny. Together all the guests help translate the sights, scents and feeling of the harvest into a shared artwork that emerges from the moment.

A family feast

After the excitement of their various activities, all ages gather around a generous harvest table in the vineyards for dinner. A generous spread of seasonal dishes, fresh cheeses and warm mosbolletjies awaits and the feast is accompanied by the estate’s cool climate wines.

A celebration of autumn, harvest and farm life that all the family will savour in relaxed and convivial harmony.
