Hasher Family Wines: Summer Events in the Hemel-en-Aarde

Music evenings, flower picking, barefoot yoga and kids’ farm tours.

This summer you’ll discover a warm and welcoming series of happenings among the vines in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. A treasure trove of cool-climate, minimal-intervention wines, long views down to the ocean and the heady scent of fynbos, Hasher Family Wines is opening up the farm for the December and January holidays, with a tent on the lawn and a series of laidback ways to soak up the rhythm of farm life. None of it is fancy. It’s wellies-on, come-as-you-are farm living, inviting you in to join the family, slow down and wander to your heart’s content.

Depending on the day, you might find farm tours for little ones, quiet morning yoga in the fields, flower picking in the cut-flower garden, or dusk music sessions as the sun drops over the ocean. Every one of these experiences is small and personal by design with booking essential.

Dusk sessions

Hasher Wines Dusk Sessions

The tent on the lawns by the farm dam opens onto glorious sunset views down the valley. Come for an evening of music and dancing with a local DJ warming things up and a headline set as the stars come out. Kick off your shoes and dance barefoot on the grass, watch the sun go down and, when you get hungry, there’s food from the braai to purchase, as well as the estate’s wines and beer.
Cost R300 (entrance)
When 12, 18 December 2026; 8 January 2027
Time 6pm –11pm

Little farmhands

Hasher Wines Ducks Vineyard

Time for kids to meet the animals that play a vital part in the farm’s regenerative approach to agriculture and learn a little bit about their work. They’ll wander down to say hello to the cows, visit the ducks, and spend time hunting eggs in the chicken coop (which they get to take home). They stop for refreshments along the way and enjoy a fruit snack at the coop.
Good to know Includes six eggs to take home, a refreshment and fruit. Children under 6 should be accompanied by an adult. Parents of older children are welcome to join the walk, or make the most of their time in the tasting room.

Wine and flower picking

Hasher Wines Flower Picking

Spend a morning among the flowers, secateurs in one hand, glass of wine in the other. Two years ago, Celine was given a flower garden as a Mother’s Day gift. It’s since grown into something rather more ambitious than intended – rows of dahlias, zinnias, scabiosa, sunflowers and plenty more, all blooming at once. Start with a walk through the garden, talking through the different varieties and how to get the most vase life out of each one, then pick your own bouquet to take home.
Good to know Includes a glass of sauvignon blanc (generously topped up as you pick) and a bunch of around 15 stems for a nice full bunch.
Cost R250
When 22 December 2026; 5 January 2027
Time 11am

Barefoot yoga

Hasher Wines Yoga

A morning oasis of calm away from the busyness of the holiday season, unroll your yoga mat among the vines and breathe deeply. Nina leads a session of gentle movement, breathwork and meditation in the open air (or in the tent if it rains). It’s open to everyone from beginners to old hands and includes a cup of coffee or a herbal infusion afterwards.
Good to know Bring your own mat.
Cost R200
When 13, 20 December 2026; 3, 10 January 2027
Time 9am

The tasting room opens as usual throughout with walk-ins welcome, so you can follow an activity with an impromptu wine tasting, and stay longer in this little patch of vineyard heaven.
