Enjoy three special-occasion menus at this esteemed Stellenbosch estate this winter.
Lanzerac has been the go-to place for Stellenbosch family celebrations for generations. This iconic grande dame set in the Jonkershoek Valley, among lush vineyards and dramatic mountain views, dates back to 1682; its historic Cape Dutch Manor House and cellars resonating with a centuries-long history of hospitality.
This winter at the Manor Kitchen chef Stephen Fraser pushes the boat out with a feast of special-occasion menus designed to banish the mid-winter chills. There’s a Gentleman’s Tea, Father’s Day Lunch and festive Christmas in July dinner to look forward to:
Not ordinary high tea, this lavish event is designed to appeal to dads. On arrival, guests are welcomed into the Craven Lounge, where a roaring fire and walls filled with memorabilia evoke a cosy club atmosphere, and snacks of biltong, chilli bites and puffed-pork crackling will keep hunger pangs at bay.
Then, settle in for a feast of savouries including duck and quail scotch eggs, beef sliders, smoked pork belly cubes and bobotie pies, alongside smoked tuna mayo melt sandwiches and roast beef sandwiches. The sweet treats are equally opulent: millionaires biscuits with gold flakes, whiskey chocolate bonbons, milk tart profiteroles, and more.

Father’s Day Lunch
High ceilinged, light-filled and elegant, the Manor Kitchen is where chef Stephen Fraser reimagines classical dishes with a creative touch. The Father’s Day lunch feast starts with flamed salmon ceviche, after which a hearty array of mains are brought to the table as shared platters. Tuck into 24-hour braised beef brisket with rocket pesto and truffle aioli, slow smoked pork belly with crackling, roast lamb with honey mint glaze, plus a sumptuous array of sides including Yorkshire pudding, pumpkin tart and charred pomme purée. The sweet finish is tipsy chocolate pudding with a rum caramel sauce and orange ice cream.

Christmas in July
A festive four-course dinner brings a ton of good cheer to the chilly heart of winter at the Manor Kitchen. The menu is still being finalised, but think gin-cured salmon to start, followed by an elegant yet hearty soup. For mains, your table is laden with delectable sharing platters – Beef Wellington, perhaps? Pork belly or roast turkey re-imagined as a rich pot pie, along with celebratory sides, where chestnuts are bound to make an appearance. Dessert channels festive classics with a creative twist that reminds us exactly why the traditional rich Christmas flavours are designed for winter feasting.
