A Scrumdiddlyumptious Whipple Wonderland afternoon tea

Afternoon tea in the Vista Bar & Lounge is always an occasion, and for Easter it takes an imaginative trip to Scrumdiddlyumptious Whipple Wonderland chocolate factory. Head to the Savoury Salon for a cornucopia of golden-ticket treats: delicate sandwiches and savouries (including hot cross sliders with crispy kingklip, and brie tartlets), to the Loompa Lunch Lab for slow-roast beef short rib and Cape Malay chicken thighs, and take a whirl through the Confections Carousel for a decadent flurry of sweet treats, from mini hot cross buns and chocolate cupcakes, to strawberry and chocolate mousse pots and apple scones. And save a corner to sample the Whipple-Scrumptious Waffle Bar, where Belgian waffles come with a chocolate factory’s worth of toppings, including marshmallows and jelly beans.

Easter Sunday lunch at ROOI

The fire-cooked flavours and relaxed sophistication of ROOI create a superb setting for a leisurely Easter feast with the whole family. Salads and starters include flame-grilled tuna salad; kudu bresaola; salmon gravlax; and Cape Malay pickled fish. The bread course features mosbolletjies, hot cross buns, seeded lavash and kitke loaves, and there’s a mouthwatering choice of plated mains: Bo-Kaap grilled chicken; beef fillet with buchu honey-roasted butternut; duck breast with duck-fat boulangère; roast cauliflower with white bean and tahini; and Malay kingklip with cauliflower and pickled fennel. A final flourish from the Dessert Garden table is an overwhelm of speckled egg chocolate brownies, raspberry eclairs, mini hot cross buns, chocolate strawberry mousse pots and much more. And there’s an enchanting magician to keep the little ones entertained.

Weekend lunch at Nobu
