One&Only Cape Town: A South African Wagyu Omakase and Auction at Nobu Cape Town

South African Wagyu is coming of age… the provenance, the marbling, the craftsmanship behind true Wagyu is the stuff of a thousand stories. Ones that connoisseurs and curious foodies can explore in depth at The Wagyu Table, an exclusive, one-off dining experience by Nobu Cape Town, hosted within the intimate Reserve Room at One&Only Cape Town. Presented by Wagyu master and chef team from Nobu, this is part omakase, part culinary theatre and includes storytelling, demonstrations of the art of Wagyu butchery, a six-course dinner, and a Wagyu auction.

The Wagyu Table

In front of a long table of just 22 guests, the Nobu chefs demonstrate the precision, intuition and artistry that lies behind the craft of Wagyu butchery, slicing and preparing various cuts of Wagyu canapés as you watch. A Wagyu Master tells the stories behind the provenance, explains the significance of the intricate marbling, the grading and the specialist techniques that honour this prized meat.

A six-course omakase

Through a meticulously crafted six-course dining extravaganza, guests explore different expressions of South African Wagyu as the Nobu expertise reveals the meat’s melting tenderness and profound depth of flavour in a series of very different and utterly delicious dishes.

A Wagyu auction

Now that you’re on the way to a deep understanding of Wagyu and the cooking techniques that do it justice, the auction gives you a chance to bid on your preferred cut to take home, so that you can explore further in your own kitchen and at your own braai fire.
