Oude Werf Stellenbosch: A Wine, Dine + Live Music Evening

With centuries of history behind them, the heritage buildings of Oude Werf Hotel have seen many a celebration. Today the tree-shaded courtyards resonate with the sounds of live music in an annual series of events, from vibrant spring celebrations of cap classique to convivial wine pairing dinners in collaboration with renowned Stellenbosch wineries.

The next wine and dine event is reason enough to head to Stellenbosch and enjoy the budding spring greens of the oak-lined streets, before settling in to an evening of excellent food and wine accompanied by live music from a talented duo.

An evening with Boschendal Wines and Kruger & Tutu

A glass of bubbly is the welcome start to the evening. Sip a glass of Boschendal Brut MCC and enjoy canapés of biltong on pesto butter crostini as the evening gets underway. A risotto of salami and pickled mushrooms is your starter, paired with the 1685 Chardonnay. Then a hearty beef short rib with olive mashed potato and artichoke “ratatouille” brings in a taste of spring that pairs beautifully with Boschendal’s Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon. Finally, the evening draws to a finale with a superb pour of Vin D’Or Noble Late Harvest accompanying the dessert of raspberry mousse with classic pound cake and peach purée.

The musical accompaniment to the evening comes courtesy of  Kruger & Tutu, a multilingual acoustic pop-rock duo from Stellenbosch. Matt Kruger and Warren Tutu blend rock, soul, R&B, and folk influences in English, Afrikaans and French (you’ll probably have heard their latest single Waterfalls being played on radio stations around the world recently).
