Quoin Rock Vintage Black Event: An Afternoon of Reds

A golden thread of sophistication and luxury wends its way through Quoin Rock, a sought-after destination in the Stellenbosch Winelands. The double-volume wine lounge soaks up glorious views over the Knorhoek Valley and Simonsberg mountain through glass walls, and spills out onto a wide terrace – which, on the occasion of the inaugural Vintage Black wine event, will be a mecca for wine connoisseurs from far and wide. The drawcard? Full tastings of the finest red wines, being the first to taste exclusive new releases, older vintages and the company of like-minded wine fundis and enthusiasts with whom to share this wonderful occasion.

A red-wine focus

This first-ever Vintage Black event celebrates the fine red wines (from Quoin Rock’s Black and White series) in the company of the winemakers, viticulturalists and owners. As you explore the various tasting stations, sipping your way through bold cabernets, silky merlots and signature blends, you’ll get the stories behind every bottle, and can delve as deep as you like into viticulture, cellar and winemaking intricacies with the people in the know. It’s also a chance to discover (and snap up) rare vintages, limited-edition wines and new releases before they reach the market. With live music, a thoughtfully curated cheese and charcuterie plate and a series of wine tastings in walkaround tasting-journey format, it’s a day to savour at your leisure.

A VIP masterclass

If you’d like to delve even deeper into the experience, sign up for a Riedel masterclass, an intimate guided tasting exploring the profound role that glass shape, size and quality plays in influencing the aroma, taste and enjoyment of fine wine. With just 20 seats available for the full VIP experience, your ticket also gives access to a private VIP lounge area, and a welcome glass of the exclusive 2017 Black Series Cap Classique on arrival.
