Simonsig Vintage Day: A Wine Connoisseur’s Dream Date

There’s a lot of history to sip at Simonsig Wine Estate. Three generations of the Malan family have called this prime pocket of Stellenbosch terroir home; they were founding members of the Stellenbosch Wine Route, and their cellar has seen vintages stretching back over many decades. Wine connoisseurs will get a rare opportunity to taste some of these vintages for themselves at their upcoming annual Vintage Day.

Vintage wines for savvy sipping

Simonsig’s winemakers spend days tasting and selecting the wines to showcase at this special event. In the end only vintages at the peak of their maturation make the cut. Rare vintages of cap classique (yes, the renowned Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel bubbly gets even better with age), red wines and white wines are brought out on parade by the Malan family and their cellar team to celebrate the very best of their winemaking history.

Eat, drink and be merry

You can come just for the wine-tasting, but a leisurely procession of excellent wines is even better with food. Make a day of it with a selection of dishes designed to pair beautifully with the selected wines.

Stock up your cellar

Once you’ve tasted and fallen in love with a particular wine, it’s an irresistible chance to add to your cellar. For the duration of the event the featured wines are available at special prices. If you can’t make the event, but hate to miss out on this opportunity, you can still view and buy selected vintages on the Simonsig website for a limited time (on the day itself and for the following week while stocks last).

The best way to immerse yourself and be a part of wine-making history is tasting and exploring what’s in your glass.
