Steenberg Farm: Picnic Concert to #SaveOurBeachHuts

Steenberg Wine Farm will be rocking to the iconic sounds of Watershed this November, with a one-off acoustic concert by lead singer Craig Hinds in order to raise funds for Muizenberg’s iconic beach huts.

The lawns in front of Tryn restaurant is the venue for this scenic event – an absolute must on your calendar of things to do in Cape Town this summer.

The #SaveOurBeachHuts campaign aims to maintain and restore the iconic beach huts, a colourfully crucial piece of Cape heritage on Muizenberg Beach, which are in danger of being lost to disrepair. As a proud supporter of Cape Town’s community and heritage, Steenberg Hotel & Spa stepped in with this wonderful initiative – in partnership with the Beach Hut Trust. Steenberg hopes to raise R100 000, all of which will be donated to the trust.

Watershed, headed by Craig Hinds, is one of South Africa’s most-loved classic rock bands internationally, known for melodic and mesmerising hits such as “Indigo Girl”, “Shine on Me”, “Letters” and “Watch the Rain”. For this open-air concert in the serene surroundings of Steenberg Farm, Craig will be keeping the show “chilled and acoustic”. Expect the big old hits and some fresh new songs.

Picnic feast

Steenberg will be pulling out all the stops to create a fabulous picnic for the occasion. The alfresco basket for two includes:

• selection of cured meats and local South African cheese
• freshly baked artisanal bread
• pickles, preserves and dips
• broccoli and sesame salad
• kalamansi and berry panna cotta
• chocolate truffles

Alternatively, book a VIP table under the oak trees outside Tryn restaurant and dine on a three-course summer special set menu. Steenberg wines will be on sale at the bar inside Tryn.

So bring along your picnic blankets and cushions, make yourself comfortable on the lawns, and settle in for a memorable evening of music under summer skies.
