Taj Cape Town: The Wine Wisdom Dinner Series

Taj Hotel

A symphony of spices and wine pairings with an insightful twist.

The majestic setting of Bombay Brasserie, with its sparkling chandeliers, jewel colours of India and plush fabrics, make a suitably glamorous setting for a special evening of wine discovery. Taj Cape Town’s Wine Wisdom dinner series takes guests on an intimate and educational journey into the art of winemaking, while enjoying a gourmet feast from executive chef Surendra Kuma and his culinary team. This May, Bombay Brasserie partners with Simonsig Family Vineyards to showcase their renowned wine range in a captivating pairing with the restaurant’s exquisitely spiced and fragrant cuisine.

The wine estate

Taj Hotel Winemaker

Cap classique is an integral part of the South African wine scene today that it’s hard to imagine a time before 1971 when Frans Malan of Simonsig pioneered the country’s first bottle-fermented sparkling wine, their renowned Kaapse Vonkel. The family estate has built on Frans’ pioneering spirit through the generations, his son Johan and grandson Michael creating award-winning prestige cuvées designed for ageing. In addition to a specialist range of cap classiques, they are known for their cabernet sauvignon, pinotage and chenin blanc, all of which offer versatility for a dedicated pairing experience that celebrates taste, tradition and terroir.
