Egghead Dinner Special: R225 for 3 Courses

Everyone knows this funky retro diner on Kloof Street for its famous egg rolls and all-day breakfasts, but Egghead’s fabulous winter dinner special reveals a mellow evening mood of cocktails and comfort food (storming smash burgers, too), low light, flickering candles and a sultry vibe. The cosy space with high banquettes, bar seating and intimate booths along the side, invites you to explore a deliciously short menu of old-school classics: mac ’n cheese balls; buffalo hot wings; fish and chips; bangers and mash; burgers; or lush ham and mushroom tagliatelle. It’s perfect for casual catch-ups with friends or relaxed date nights, and finishes on a sweet high with salted-caramel popcorn cheesecake or crème brûlée.

Tiki Tomb: R180 for Triple Threat Thursday Special

Tiki Tomb is like a portal to another reality where tiki cocktails, DJ beats and tropical-island decor make you feel like you’re on vacation! The buzzy Bree Street bar starts you off with pizzas and happy hour, stirs in some cocktails (the likes of Witch Doctor, Zombie and Pagan Idol), and then gets you dancing till late. Grab a table on the street-level deck to soak up the Bree Street buzz, and on Thursdays take on the Triple Threat special, a tempting trio of cheesy nachos with a margarita, followed by a spiked soft serve.
