Alfi Pizza: A Sizzling New Style of Pizza in Sea Point

Alfi Pizza Sea Point

A sizzling new style of pizza in Sea Point.

Sea Point is having a (prolonged) moment! The latest addition to its cosmopolitan and vibey food scene comes courtesy of the group behind Jarryd’s, Ariel et al, whose newest venture is rocking the Main Road to its pizza foundations. At Alfi Pizza they’re bringing New Haven pizza to the party – a thin-crust Neapolitan style of pizza developed in Connecticut in the 1920s. A first for the Cape Town pizza scene!

So what is a New Haven pizza? From Naples to Connecticut and now to Cape Town, this thin-crust pizza incarnation originated at the Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven in 1925. In and around New Haven it’s affectionately known as apizza.  Hand-stretched to a thin crust, it’s then wood-fired to give a crisp but still chewy base with plenty of char.

At Alfi you can expect four types of garlic pizza (with mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan or just with olive oil and garlic); the classics from Sicilian to Funghi (porcini mushrooms), Diavola (spicy) and Quattro Stagioni; plenty for meat lovers with double pepperoni, pancetta or chorizo; and a S’mores pizza for dessert.

They say their pizzaiolos are basically sourdough DJs spinning dough magic… We can’t wait to check out the beats!
