Basson & Co Brings Family-Friendly Fire and Steak to Stellenbosch

Just when you thought Bertus Basson was taking a breather, he announces a brand-new family-friendly steakhouse. Introducing Basson & Co: a fuss-free restaurant where you can eat with your kids on any given Tuesday night… South African flavours, in a beautiful space, but with simplicity coming first.

The new offering will be à la carte, meat-centric and fire-focussed with really good South African beef as the hero. “It’s essentially a flippin’ lekker steakhouse,” he says. And he’ll still be tapping into those nostalgic food memories. Think desserts of chocolate mousse, crème brûlée or ice cream with chocolate sauce. Simple flavours that the whole family love…and an old-school prawn cocktail for starters.

The new steakhouse will take the place of Eike. Says Bertus: “Since we opened Eike in 2018 everything has changed. The way we eat has changed, my family has changed (I’ve got two flippin’ children now), and people want more choice and variety in the way they eat, and still enjoy wonderful South African flavours.”
