Authentic Indian cuisine at Bombay Chilli
Enjoy real-deal northern Indian cuisine at this Muizenberg restaurant

“Unpretentious”, “value-for-money” and “authentic” are the words that spring to mind when you walk through the doors of Bombay Chilli in Muizenberg. And when you taste your first mouthful of curry, you’re guaranteed to add “mouth-watering”, “fresh” and “fragrant” to that description.
Even though the service was a little slow, the food was delicious when it got to the table. The owner keeps a close eye on all food that comes from the kitchen and makes a point of visiting each table to ensure diners are satisfied.
The curries (lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetarian) are served with basmati rice and cost between R60 and R110 a portion. They’re served on hot plates, keeping your food warmer for longer, so you need not motor through your meal. The rotis include potato, vegetable, chicken and lamb (R50 to R75), and you can order a quarter, half or full chicken tikka for R45, R85 and R150 respectively. The biryanis (chicken, lamb, fish, prawn and vegetable) range in price from R70 to R110. And be sure to order a few portions of the very popular naan bread to mop up the leftover sauces – it’s made in a clay tandoori oven and is dangerously moreish.
Southern suburbs dwellers will be chuffed to know that Bombay Chilli opened a second branch in Plumstead at the end of 2014.
