Punchy flavours rooted in tradition (with a contemporary twist).
Plush, sophisticated and comfortable, Heirloom’s perfect perch, looking out over bobbing yachts and to the distinctive silhouette of Table Mountain, creates an undeniable sense of occasion. The beautifully decorated signature restaurant at the iconic Cape Grace Hotel is a sumptuous refuge from the bustle of the V&A Waterfront, with luxurious seasonal à la carte menus that celebrate the rich tapestry of South African flavours and local ingredients paired with fine wines.
A new chef takes the helm
Chef Wesli Jacobs’, back in Cape Town after an award-winning stint at Flames at The Four Seasons Westcliff in Johannesburg, is excited to be playing with the flavours of the Cape again.Originally from Durban, Wesli has spent a chunk of his 15-year career in Cape Town and the Winelands and says, “I look forward to exciting Heirloom diners with punchy flavours deeply rooted in tradition, yet modernised, and to incorporate the best of the Cape’s natural produce.” He’ll be working closely with head sommelier Alvezo Abrahams, whose skilful pairings, wine knowledge and wonderful demeanour are so much part of the Heirloom experience.
Heritage flavours
Heirloom’s seasonal à la carte menu finds expression in the unhurried spirit and bountiful terroir of South Africa, and combines tradition and creativity, as it changes with the seasons. While chef Wesli will be introducing new twists as he puts his own stamp on the menu, you can expect elevated takes on grilled West Coast sardines with seaweed butter, kudu tartare, Cape Malay mussel pot with pickled spekboom, a next-level braai lamb rack, millet risotto, veld-raised beef fillet, and charcoal-roasted rock lobster tail with seafood bisque. Not to mention the superb desserts from inspired pastry chef Lorraine Meaney.
The restaurant’s contemporary design (by 1508 London) features comfortable leather booths and armchairs, a jaw-dropping collection of contemporary artworks on the walls and shelves topped with collections of plants and sculptural ceramics. Couplked with bold dishes and tip-tier wine pairings, guests are in for an ever-evolving and luxurious dining experience in beautiful surroundings.
