This relaxed bistro offers delicious seasonal menus for the whole family.
Joostenberg Bistro’s traditional bistro cuisine, excellent organic wines and rustic country atmosphere are spot-on for kicking back with friends and family in a Winelands setting.
Conveniently located between Stellenbosch, Durbanville and Paarl, the eatery is a perfect one-stop-shop for breakfast with a twist or a farm-style lunch, with old-school hospitality enhancing the overall experience.
Bubbly for breakfast
In a lovely relaxed setting that reminds you of home, head chef Garth Bedford and his team have created ingredient-focused breakfast and lunch menus that change regularly and cater to all tastes. Whether you choose an unfussy French favourite (we recommend the Croque Monsieur) or an inspired interpretation of a local delight (such as the French toast with fynbos honey and streaky bacon), you can rest assured your meal will be skilfully prepared using the best locally sourced farm produce.
For us, the clincher is being able to order a plate of West Coast Oysters with a glass of bubbly for breakfast. So civilised. So decadent. So right!
Seasonal lunches
The ever-changing lunch menu is as varied as it is flavour-packed, featuring everything from mezze and cheese and charcuterie platters to pan-fried line fish, free-range beef burgers, slow-braised lamb, and pickled pork tongue. On Wednesdays, there’s a brilliant-value plat du jour for R95 over lunch, and every Sunday, there’s a chef’s menu of selected seasonal dishes to choose from (including a succulent roast) that changes weekly.
Whether you cosy up next to the indoor fireplace on chilly winter days, or spill out under the vine-shaded stoep overlooking the gardens in summer, you’re in for a treat at this Winelands gem.
