Localino: An Italian Neighbourhood Café in Kommetjie
Pistachio croissants, focaccia sandwiches and Italian slow living by the sea.
By Inside Guide • 22 September 2026
Localino is what you get when an Italian surfer makes his home in the Deep South. Owner Luca Pantani started dreaming about a little restaurant by the sea 20 years ago while he was still living in Italy. Now he’s brought his love of simple, honest food and good coffee to a little neighbourhood restaurant a block from the beach, serving post-surf and post-beach-walk breakfasts and lunches, proper Italian coffee and pistachio croissants that are already causing a stir!
On the menu

They’ve started off slowly with a short, hand-written menu. Luca has been perfecting his slow-fermented focaccia recipe for fabulous sandwiches (and the Localino version of avo on toast); there are handmade pastas, like gnocchi alla Gorgonzola and tagliatelle Bolognese, and fresh-caught fish too. For breakfast, enjoy the Localino take on eggs bennie, fresh juices and the aforementioned croissants with a proper cappuccino.
A lovely new addition to the Kommetjie scene!
