The Stranger’s Club
Just off Green Point’s Main Road, in one of the oldest buildings in Cape Town, is a hidden treasure that feels far, far away from the bustle of the city.

Owned and run by 21-year-old Emma Vith, who hails from a long line of intrepid explorers, The Stranger’s Club takes its name from a book by William LaVarre, which Emma’s grandfather gifted to her father (and which inspired many years of wonderful travel adventures).
In the book, like-minded travellers would gather at The Stranger’s Club in La Paz to share stories and trade goods; In Cape Town, it’s a place where (city-weary) travellers and locals seeking solace can meet for the best chai lattes in town, simple yet meticulously prepared sandwiches, smoothie bowls, and delicious vegan treats, while sharing stories of adventures and dreams.
The vibe Inside, neutral colours, upcycled-wooden furniture, artefacts from around the globe, and indoor plants add to the tranquil atmosphere, while the shaded outdoor courtyard is the perfect place to refresh and recharge before heading back into the noise of the city.
Good to know All the artefacts were sourced from Out Of This World, a decor and furniture store next door, which is owned by Emma’s parents (who also own a branch at the V&A Waterfront).
