Colourbox: A Luxury Fashion Boutique in the Winelands

Alluring splashes of colour and vibrant prints are what draw fashionistas to Colourbox, the luxury fashion boutique that sources and imports its own stable of exclusive international brands. When you’re looking for individual pieces that stand out from the crowd, for a dash of dopamine dressing to add energy to your look whatever the season, this is the place. Since the first retail store opened in Johannesburg in 2016, owner and buyer Sigal Kolin has added a second at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront, one in Plett, and recently, to save her Winelands customers a drive, she’s opened a fourth boutique in the newly expanded Somerset Mall.

The story behind the brand

It all started as a wholesale business importing the Maaji brand of swimwear and resortwear from Columbia to South Africa. A happy opportunity led first to an online store and soon after to a retail boutique, where Sigal added further brands that she loved, luxury labels known for craftsmanship, sustainable production, quality fit and feel, and of course an injection of colour that sparks joy.

A world of colour

On the rails and shelves you’ll find the bold artistry of Aldo Martins knitwear and apparel from Spain, vibrant prints from POM Amsterdam in the Netherlands, the endless summer vibes of Oneseason resortwear from Australia, and a whole spectrum of eco-conscious Aro Barcelona sneakers in every shade imaginable. Then there’s the sunglasses bar decked with Mr Boho shades in an array of styles, and of course the magical Maaji swimwear stocked all year round, perfect for when you’re thinking of chasing the sun on an impromptu mid-winter break.

A Winelands store

With the boutique that opened in the new section of Somerset Mall in November 2025, Colourbox devotees in the Winelands no longer have to travel all the way to the V&A Waterfront to browse the latest drops, or for lastminute additions to their wardrobe before heading off on a globe-trotting adventure. They’ll also find a warm welcome and familiar face in Nomsizi Katers who has moved from the V&A to become the new store manager.
