The experience The magnificent five-hectare food gardens of Babylonstoren stand at the heart of an incredible farm experience in the Cape Winelands. From seasonal dining to garden tours, farm shops and an array of other attractions, it’s a place that truly grounds you in the rhythms of country life. To best experience it requires the luxury of time, and as a guest of the hotel you’re treated to many all-inclusive activities in addition to full access to the gardens at all hours. Borrow a bicycle to explore, visit the water buffalo, go rowing on the dam, unwind in the Garden Spa (sauna, salt room, heated vitality pools and more), taste your way through the underground wine tunnel, and end the day with a sunset mountain drive. The longer you stay, the more there is to discover: make sourdough with the master baker, join the early-morning harvest, visit the artisans at Soetmelksvlei historical farmyard and the Byzantium bee exhibit, or enjoy a picnic deep in the mountains. Or you can simply settle in next to a fireplace with nowhere else to be.
The winter special Pay for two nights and stay for three; or pay for three nights and stay for four. Alternatively, stay two nights and receive a complimentary 30-minute spa treatment or dinner at Babel Restaurant.
The lodgings The Farm Hotel comprises 35 units in Cape Dutch style, including 17 cottages, 16 suites and two exclusive-use family houses. Communal spaces include the Green Room (opposite Babel Restaurant), with books, games, a fireplace and easel for painting. A second lounge and library, the Butterfly Room, is for guests staying in the Farmhouse suites. There is a pool at the Fynbos Cottages, as well as at the Garden Spa.
