Galjoen Lunch Special: R450 for 3 Courses
The best seafood from Cape waters in the innercity.
By Inside Guide • 04 June 2026
Sustainable seafood by the small-scale boatload is the core philosophy behind Galjoen, a semi-industrial dining space in the heart of the city. “If it’s not from South Africa, it’s not going on the menu,” says co-owner Neil Swart. He and Anouchka Horn, along with chef Isca Stoltz, continue the winning formula that wowed Cape Town foodies at Belly of the Beast – just with a fishy focus. This winter they’re leaning into nostalgic comfort and going back to basics with their lunch offering: a few presents from the kitchen followed by a bowl of mussels in a rich broth with fresh bread for starters, a main course of fish and chips – but a little elevated – and finishing off with a baked dessert.
Good to know The multi-course tasting menu (R850) is available in the evening for a broader experience of their seafood-first philosophy.
