Gibson’s: R250 for Steak + Draught Beer

The yellow-and-black retro decor, comfortable bench seats and zesty yellow chairs set the scene at Gibson’s, a funky diner that serves award-winning burgers, ribs, steaks and shakes. There’s an element of sassy New York style but the surroundings are pure Cape Town, with loads of alfresco seating for Table Mountain and harbour views, and a side helping of people-watching. For winter there are some alluring specials on steaks: a 300g rump espetada or a 500g T-bone come with fries and a draught beer (R250). Or get 650g beef short rib spare ribs (R295) or a 1kg giant tomahawk (R595) with sides and beer.
